JOB-SEARCH ORGANISATION
How to track job applications
Practical general guidance. Adapt it to the vacancy and your own accurate experience.
Record every serious application
Keep the company, role, source, closing date, date applied, status and next action in one place.
Give every application a next action
Examples include tailoring the CV, completing an assessment, preparing for interview, following up where appropriate, or closing the application after an outcome.
Review once a week
Look for repeated requirements, useful vacancy sources, bottlenecks and genuine skill gaps. Tracking should help you make decisions, not create admin for its own sake.
Keep it factual
Do not infer that a lack of response means rejection until you have an outcome or decide to close the application yourself.
